If you’re building a concrete countertop it is essential that you at least have a working knowledge of how concrete is laid out, cured and sealed even if you don’t do the actual work by yourself. The best way to cure concrete is to wet-cure’ it - you can achieve this by placing wet towels or plastic sheets over the concrete. Concrete cures without shrinking and this helps to build its strength and allows it to resist shrinkage forces better when it dries out. Wet-curing results in efflorescence marks on the concrete, though.

I am interested in installing a solid surface counter top such as corian. I also have an island that I want to put a butcher block material on. I plan on keeping my current back splash and faucet.
